The Deer Meadows

The Deer Meadows is a boutique resort located in Bandipur–Mudumalai, nestled within a 3-acre campus adjacent to the reserve, surrounded by lush green forests and meadows. Spotted deer, Malabar squirrels, peacocks, langurs, and a variety of birds are often seen on the campus, with occasional visits from tuskers, gaur, and even big cats. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway, we offer a range of packages that cater to different preferences and budgets—whether it’s a romantic retreat or a family vacation, we have options perfect for you. Our resort stay includes accommodation in luxurious cottages and suites, complete with modern amenities and stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

  • Is The Deer Meadows safe for families and couples? What are the check-in and check-out timings?
    Yes, The Deer Meadows is safe for all guests, including small families and couples. Please follow the safety guidelines provided on our website.

  • What types of accommodations do you offer?
    The Deer Meadows offers a variety of cottage options including Family Rooms, Chalets, Premium Chalets, Earthen Homes with an upper deck, and Airavata — a private pool villa designed for a luxurious and nature-immersive stay.
  • Do you provide hot water?
    Yes, all our cottages — Family Room, Chalet, Premium Chalet, Earthen Home with an upper deck, and Airavata (Private Pool Villa) — are equipped with geysers and provide hot water throughout the day.
  • Can we cook at The Deer Meadows? Is special food available for children?
    Guest cooking is not permitted. For toddlers, elders, or anyone needing simple diet food, our caretaker can assist based on availability.
  • Can we spot wildlife at The Deer Meadows?
    Wildlife sightings depend on luck and timing. Guests mostly spotted deer, elephants, langurs, and various bird species around the property.
  • Do you provide pickup and drop services?
    Yes, pickup and drop can be arranged at an additional cost. We recommend guests to bring their own vehicle as The Deer Meadows is 2.5 km from the main road and having transportation is helpful for local travel. Auto rickshaws are also available from the highway.
  • Can our vehicle reach The Deer Meadows?
    Vehicles up to the size of a Swaraj Mazda can reach The Deer Meadows. Larger buses may face difficulty due to narrow roads and sharp curves along the route.
  • What is the route to The Deer Meadows?
    Bandipur Masinagudi Resort is located in Thorappali village. Take a right turn adjacent to Udipi Restaurant. Continue on the 8-feet concrete road and proceed straight for 800 meters. On your right, you will see the white-coloured entrance gate of The Deer Meadows.
  • Do you have a pet policy?
    All pets such as dogs and cats are welcome at The Deer Meadows. However, pets restricted under Indian Wildlife laws are not allowed.
    Pets are allowed only in selected cottage categories — Family Room and Chalet. A pet fee of ₹1000 applies per pet.
  • Is there an additional charge for pets?
    Yes, a maintenance fee of ₹1000 is applicable for hosting pets. Any additional food prepared for pets will be charged at actual cost.
    Along with this, guests are required to pay a refundable security deposit of ₹3000 when accompanied by a pet.
  • Are there any rules for bringing pets?
    • Pets should not disturb other guests.
    • Pet owners must clean up all waste, including hair, from rooms and public areas.
    • Pets should not trouble our resident animals like birds, ducks, geese, and dogs.
    • Please avoid using guest bed linen for pets and bring your own if your pet sheds hair.
  • How far is The Deer Meadows from Bangalore? How long does it take to reach?
    The Deer Meadows is approximately 250 km from Bangalore, and it takes around 5 hours to reach the resort. From Mysore, the travel time is around 2 hours.
  • How far is The Deer Meadows from Ooty?
    The Deer Meadows is 50 km from Ooty. It takes about 1.5 hours via the Kalhatty Ghat Road and around 2 hours via the Gudalur route.
  • How far is the resort from the Mudumalai and Bandipur Forest Department Offices?
    The Deer Meadows is 20 km from the Bandipur Forest Department Office and 10 km from the Mudumalai Forest Department Office.
  • Can we travel through the forest at night?
    No. Forest gates close at 9:00 PM, and vehicles are not allowed to pass through after that time. Guests are advised to cross the check-posts by 8:30 PM to avoid being stranded overnight.
  • Do you arrange transport from Bangalore or Mysore?
    We do not arrange transport directly, but we can recommend reliable taxi operators for your travel.
  • What about road tax?
    The Deer Meadows is located in Tamil Nadu, right opposite the RTO check-post. Road tax cannot be avoided, so please inform your taxi operator in advance about the tax requirements and ensure they carry all original vehicle documents.
  • Is it possible to reach The Deer Meadows by bus or public transport?
    Yes, public transport is available. You can take a bus from Bangalore to Ooty and get down at Thorapalli. From there, an auto rickshaw can be hired to reach The Deer Meadows.

    To save time, we recommend taking an early morning bus (around 6 AM) from Bangalore. If you are coming from Ooty, take a bus to Gudalur and then hire an auto rickshaw from Gudalur to Thorapalli.

    A 6:15 AM Volvo bus to Ooty is currently the most convenient option. For online bus bookings, we suggest using KSRTC services.
  • What about transport from The Deer Meadows to the Safari Office?
    Local jeeps can be hired at a nominal cost for trips to and from the safari offices. If you inform our caretaker, they will arrange the jeeps from Gudalur. Please inform at least one hour in advance, as the vehicles need to travel from Gudalur to the resort.
